Last October, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey teamed up with three of the top JFK airport companies JetBlue, Atlas Air and Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to bring much needed relief to the island of Puerto Rico. The Island was ravaged by one of the worst hurricanes in recent memory, destroying infrastructure of electricity, water, telephone and air and ocean ports leaving behind tens of thousands of USA citizens in peril.
The Port Authority responded by making available a cargo building and airport facilities at JFK Airport, and JetBlue, WFS and Atlas Air stepped up to donate their services. WFS donated it resources and staff for ground handling.
Mike Duffy, CEO of WFS Americas, instructed Phil Jensen and its team to provide whatever handling support was needed to assist the relief effort.
