Worldwide Flight Services’ (WFS) Airport College has been recognised as one of the world’s top 10 aviation training providers by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in its list of 2017 Premier Circle Members.
The Paris-based Airport College is one of only two training providers in Europe to be awarded Premier Circle status by IATA this year out of the network of 450 member institutes in over 90 countries that are authorised IATA training partners, including universities.
WFS, the world’s largest cargo handler and a leading global provider of ground handling and technical services with over 300 airline customers, first established its Airport College in
2000 to provide training for its own employees to meet mandatory aviation
industry requirements. However, it soon identified a high level of demand from other companies requiring professional training services for their cargo and ground handling personnel. Today,
the Airport College incorporates a simulated airport terminal boarding area in Orly to train students in passenger services as well as a facility to teach ULD handling at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
In naming its top 10 global training partners for 2017, IATA’s Director
of Training, Guy Brazeau, said: “We congratulate all the winners including WFS for their success and thank them for their contribution in developing more than 100,000 participants and enhancing the skill levels of the global aviation talent pool.”
As an Accredited Training School and Regional Training Partner of IATA, the WFS Airport College provides IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) courses at WFS’ 12 stations in France. It now delivers training to approximately
11,000 people every year, notably to WFS staff as well as employees of airlines, freight forwarders, shippers, packing companies and candidates registered with employment agencies.
Yann Le Tonqueze, Managing Director of the WFS Airport College, said: “We are extremely proud that such a respected global organisation as
IATA has recognised the quality and professionalism of our training services. Ensuring its employees have the training and accreditation they need
is central to WFS’ Health & Safety commitment and the Airport College enables us to also extend these services to other companies that share the same philosophy.”
